Hard at work with Ra Ra Rasputin

After a few weeks off, we're back in the grind. We've got some new toys (including a vintage Roland Juno-60), and we plan on recording as soon as possible.

Performing with the Ex-Husbands (now known as Dead Beat) is always a pleasure. But we decided to turn things up a notch on July the 14th. We decided to throw a party to celebrate the French national holiday in style. The crowd was wild, the sound was phenomenal, the weather was terrific. Robespierre would've been proud.












August 4th @ Niagara NYC
Thanks to 100dBs and Sam at Theory events, we were able to do our third show in the basement of Niagara in the East Village. Despite the oppressive heat and absentee soundman, we managed to channel all of our anxieties into frantic performance for friends and family. New Yorkers are a notoriously difficult bunch, but by the end of our set, we had them pumping their fists and chanting our name. Kinda helps that we had a local boy on stage with us to help rile up the crowd.

Anna and Ken are both on holiday. Upon their return, we will begin recording some home demos and hopefully have something to post on MySpace or sell in the near future. Please be patient.

Local bands Ra-Ra Rasputin and the Ex-Husbands have more in common with Belle and Sebastian than Etienne Daho and both bands sing all their songs in English, but they're still throwing a Bastille Day party at the Velvet Lounge. Ra-Ra Rasputin guitarist Patrick Kigongo -- the band's resident Francophone -- promises he'll be spinning nothing but French music before the bands go on: "everything from Serge Gainsbourg to [hip-hop group] NTM to the new Justice album." There's an $8 cover, and doors open at 9.

This was the first night of ra-ra rabble rousing and many thanks to those who came out and rawked! The place was packed and a splendid time was had by all! The Husbands bought the lo-fi ruckus to a crowd and we adored them.

At the end of our set, the Husbands joined us on stage for a five minute percussion jam. Whoever complained that DC crowds do not dance is a fool. We had the upstairs of Wonderland lookin' like a rowdy weekend night!

Stay tuned for our next exciting adventure as we set sail for U street where we will take over Velvet Lounge for a Bastille Day celebration on July 14th. Be there and be French!!!

We are time.....

In exactly two weeks, we'll be playing with The Ex-Husbands @ our beloved bar the Wonderland Ballroom. Despite some nerves, we are amped to turn it up.

Tonight we had a short, but eventful, rehearsal. On Sunday, we're gonna be posted up @ Girard for nearly 8 hours. Fun, Fun, Fun lies ahead, children.
